Noor Jehan (Allah Wasai) was born on September 21 in Kasur; a small town near Lahore. She was a famous Punjabi and Urdu singer and actress worked in undivided India And Pakistan. She proceeded to Calcutta with her sisters to work with ‘Indira Movietone” in 1930. She sang her first film song “Lang aa ja pattan chanan da yaar” in film ‘Pind de Kuri’ in 1935. Noor Jehan was first cast as a heroine in the Urdu film Khandaan (1942) opposite Pran as a hero and it started the success story in her life.
She decided to migrate to Pakistan in 1947 at the peak of his popularity in India. She produced and directed her first film “Chanway” in 1951 in Pakistan which was a super hit. Noor jehan acted as singer heroine till 1963 and gave some super hit films and songs to Pakistan Film industry and then she decided to quit acting and keep singing some marvellous songs till death on December 23, 2000 at “Shab-e-qadr”.
